These unique skins form part of our Eco range of leathers.
Using traditional tanning and dyeing methods with 100% natural plant extracts and materials sourced from the native flora and fauna, the carbon footprint in the production of these leathers is kept to the bare minimum.
Using the same methods their ancestors have used for centuries, these skins are tanned using the Bagaruwa seeds from the Nilotica trees which grow on the land the goats are farmed on. The skins are then pit dyed using only natural dyes. In the case of this beautiful red-brown shade it is 'Karan Dafi' or 'Caudatum' that is used to give the skins their colour.
As we are by far the largest user of these skins, we have un-rivalled access to them and so are able to offer them at considerably lower costs than you will find elsewhere.
This is not a uniform, pigmented leather, this is completely natural, aniline shrunken grain Goat leather with a huge amount of character that will polish and burnish up beautifully with age - developing an even richer patina.
Perfect for Bookbinding, Leather goods and Footwear.
These skins are left natural / unshaved at full substance and are dyed by hand (not dyed through).Substance: approx 1.2 mm
